Meet Our Instructors

Victoria Cole

As a youth Victoria trained and exhibited with some of the top trainers in the industry.  After a successful show career as a youth she went on to college at Ohio University, after which she pursued a career as a court stenographer.  It wasn’t long before she realized that her true passion in life was deeply rooted in the horse world.  Victoria then made a decision to devote her life to this sport.  She is now a full time professional trainer and instructor and has been for the last 35 years.  She has successfully trained and shown several different breeds such as Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Saddlebreds, Arabians, Thoroughbred hunters and jumper as well as Thoroughbred racehorses.  Winning at such prestigious shows as The All American Quarter Horse Congress, The American Saddle bred World Championship, The Buckeye All Arabian Nationals, to name a few.  Students under her care have won multiple State, National and World titles in many disciplines of riding.

Amanda Cole

Growing up in the horse industry had a positive impact on Amanda’s life, and it was at an early age that she showed a great affinity for the sport.  As the daughter of a professional horse trainer and instructor she had the opportunity to learn the many skills required to become a top rider.  Through her love and dedication to the sport, Amanda was able to achieve many honors in the horse world including and not limited to World and Reserve National titles in multiple disciplines of riding.  After her show career as a youth, Amanda served a 2 year teaching and training apprenticeship and is now proud to be following in her mother’s footsteps as a full time trainer and instructor at BFC.

The Experience at Baker Creek Farm

“I have always had a love for horses, so when my youngest daughter begged me for horseback riding lessons we discovered Baker Creek Farm. My daughter got her horseback riding lessons and more! She became an amazing rider and had several wonderful years showing her horses with Baker Creek Farm show team.

I wanted to understand and learn what my daughter was doing in the show ring, so I began taking lessons as well. I started out on Baker Creek Bill. He taught me so much. He’s such a wonderful teacher and has such a personality. Riding is a wonderful bonding experience. You feel that you and your horse are a team.

I now have a horse of my own who is bringing me new experiences and challenges every time I ride him. When I go out to Baker Creek Farm I feel I have been transported to another place. It’s so peaceful you would never believe how close to the hustle and bustle you really are.

It has been such an amazing opportunity to be able to have horses in my life. I have learned so much from Vicki, Amanda, and Jim whom also have become great friends! I have shared and look forward to many more happy years of riding at Baker Creek Farm.”

“From childhood, my lifelong dream was to own a horse and become an experienced rider.  These dreams came true the day I met Vicki at Baker Creek Farm.  My riding journey began taking lessons on their amazing school horse.  Now I am the proud owner of my own horse, Marty.

Marty and I have been learning from each other through Vicki’s professional training approach for 2 years now.  My experience from riding lessons and bonding with my horse has far exceeded any expectations I could have had at the start of this riding journey.

When I enter the little taste of country in the city, I say it is great therapy.  My mind is relieved of all the stress and worries.  Marty gives me more joy than I can put into words and I have learned more than I ever could’ve imagined.  Not only are the barn and Marty wonderful, but the owners as well.

Jim, Vicki, and Amanda could not be better people.  They are so knowledgeable, patient, kind and friendly.  I know when I’m away, my horse could not be in better hands.  Riding is the experience of a lifetime and it is never too late.  I started when I was 39 and my journey is far from over.”

“Baker Creek Farm has become a second home for me and is a huge part of my life.  Horseback riding has taught me so much and has helped me grow as a person.  Through my experiences I have learned to be patient, assertive, to think a few steps ahead, to look forward from disappointments instead of dwelling, working through adverse conditions, and to be sure of what I want and make it happen.  These are lessons that can apply to many aspects of life and that have stuck with me.  Horses give so much and the bond they develop with you is something special that isn’t like any other relationship.

My time with Baker Creek Farm has been absolutely amazing. Vicki and Amanda are the best trainers I could ever hope for.  I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today without all of their hard work, patience, and guidance.  Being a part of the show team has been one of the most wonderful aspects of my life, and we’re all like family.  Every time I come home from a horse show, I have more fond memories and stories to tell.

I love Baker Creek Farm, and all of my experiences there have affected me in the most positive ways possible. The lessons I have learned and the memories I have made will stay with me my whole life.”
